Recent leaks from a Chinese factory could give reason to speculate that Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 may include a second screen. The images, which surfaced online, show prototype hardware and detailed specs of the highly anticipated console.

The main focus here is the two type C ports, which while unlikely, could support a second external screen. While Nintendo has not confirmed these details, fans are already speculating whether the ports could mean a second screen or just more peripheral attachments. On the off chance that it’s real, the Switch 2 could redefine handheld gaming.

Here Come The Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks And Theories

Leaked images from a Chinese website have fueled much of the speculation surrounding the Switch 2’s design. These photos allegedly depict factory prototypes of the console, featuring an 8-inch screen and a USB-C port on both the top and bottom of the device.

However, it’s the ports and possible features that stand out. The Switch 2 may include two USB-C ports, one at the bottom and another at the top. This has sparked theories that the second port could be for connecting an external display, allowing for a dual-screen experience. The idea evokes memories of the Nintendo DS, but this time with the possibility of a detachable second screen

Some speculate it may be used for backward compatibility with DS or 3DS games, while others believe Nintendo might be cooking up something even better. Whether or not it’s true, one thing that will interest you is the rumored release price of $400. In an era where staples like PlayStation have just gotten burned for higher pricing (PS5 Pro we’re looking at you), it’s a nice thing to see.

Nintendo has yet to officially respond to these leaks or provide any confirmation about the Switch 2’s features. However, the timing of the leaks, combined with other rumors might mean that an official announcement could be imminent.

Aside From Speculations The Leaked Specs Look Good Too

These new leaks have been accompanied but a lot of other details, including a leaked spec sheet which confirms big upgrades in performance. The most notable spec is the jump from 4GB of RAM in the original Switch to 12GB in the Switch 2, a massive upgrade that could pave the way for more graphically intensive games.

Additionally, the leaks point to support for FullHD resolution on an 8-inch display, suggesting a larger, clearer screen than the original model. The Switch was already lagging behind in terms of performance when it first came out. But now it might be a real competitor performance-wise.

The leak also points to potential changes in the Joy-Con controllers. The current snap-on rail system seems to have been replaced by a magnetic attachment method, allowing for a more seamless connection between the controllers and the main console.

While no official confirmation has been made, the price of the Switch 2 is rumored to be around $400. Some leaks indicate that the system will be available in two SKUs—one that supports physical cartridges and another, potentially cheaper, digital-only version.

What do you make of these leaks? Should Nintendo just announce it already? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
