Sparking Zero Can Revive the One Part of the Franchise Every Other Entry has Ignored for Years

Sparking Zero is literally the entire Dragon Ball universe packed in one. Though manga characters like Moro or transformations like Black Frieza and Ultra Ego didn’t make it to the game, there are anime vibes in it. We are essentially controlling them as we choose to.

How the cause and effect woven in the anime, showcasing the character development, was indeed impressive when the series aired back in the day. But it lost this art somewhere as it pressed onward. Could it be that Sparking Zero will give that spark to the franchise again?

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Have a Lot of Room for More Stories

Goku was an explorer since he was a kid and kept going and learning things as he went along. Vegeta and Piccolo went on from being enemies to friends. However, characters like Yamcha and Tien Shinhan became static after one point. They too deserved a better journey than they actually got.

We cannot change that, but we can at least hope more characters with potential get the right treatment from the latest Dragon Ball game, Sparking Zero. The kind of depth, from dialogue to moves, is something unseen in video games before.

Episode Battles are one way to give them the much-deserved attention too. Take Piccolo’s revamped storyline, for example; the Namekian got to train Gohan in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber this time. Hell, he even beat Vegeta when he first arrived on earth.

I have written about how Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero can be a breath of life the franchise needs, and now I am seeing that happening as the game is finally here. Now I am hoping to see more Episode Battles focused on characters lost with time.

These Episodes are a much-needed freedom for those developing the game. They can do their research and grab a hold of where the series lacked and fill that gap in the future content updates of the video game.

Even there’s a possibility of anime-exclusive crossovers in the game. I mean, I won’t mind seeing Vegeta and Goku’s Super Saiyan 4 in one of the Z sagas, or the appearance of Shadow Dragons for that matter. GT characters too deserve some more screen time, even if that happens in a game like Sparking Zero.

That Game is Already Tickling the Hippocampus and Amygdala

There are only eight playable characters in the Episode Battles as of now.

Though I am not really in favor of dialogue choices in a game as it sways away the plot that a writer has intended to develop in the story. But they can be helpful in a long-running series like this where there’s always a scope to make it better than ever.

But then alternate routes are good too, but for the most of the cases with our eight warriors in Episode Battles, alternate routes are to defeat those battle-heavy enemies quickly. What if Gohan unlocked his latent potential and killed Frieza?

Multiple choices and the talent of the characters that has remained latent in the series, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is something that can foster it. And when we are living in times where DLC expansions seems to be a sustainable business model, there’s so much we can expect.

There’s no need for another Budokai Tenkaichi game; just keep bringing those new episodes that feed the hungry gaming soul. Make it 100 GB, but make it so good that the fans don’t have a chance to say, ‘No, that character deserved more.’.

The Spike Chunsoft game can foster characters, but it’s already fostering my imagination. Here’s another idea: do some back stories of characters like Master Roshi. I am still thinking about what Roshi’s master, Master Mutaito, would look like while using that Evil Containment Wave to capture Demon King Piccolo.

A multitude of Sparking Zero users may not have an idea of how things were when Goku was obsessed with the four-star Dragon Ball. Maybe tell those stories too present the history of the series to them in a new-fashioned way. At least it will be better than Kai.

Of which character’s story do you want to see in the game? We would like to know about it in the comments section below.
