A-League Men: Only three players rated higher than six out of 10 following horror 6-1 Macarthur loss

There was little to celebrate as Perth Glory copped a 6-1 hiding in their opening A-League Men’s game under new coach David Zdrilic – and a number of players failed to earn a passing mark.

Adam Taggart – 6: Denied two goals by narrow offside calls. Was isolated for most of the game, showed some nice signs in build-up occasionally, but was part of a front three press which looked disorganised.

Oli Sail – 6: It says a lot about the quality of the back four in front of him that the goalkeeper who conceded six has a higher rating than most of them. Could do little about most of the goals, having been sold up the river by his defence.

Adam Bugarija – 6: Provided some energy after being introduced at half-time. Almost had an assist with his first touch and then found the net to bag a consolation goal.

Hiroaki Aoyama – 5.5: Showed some glimpses of good ball use and smart movement, but was hooked at half-time and looked at times to have been caught out of position.

Luis Canga – 5.5: Only made it through one half of football before his lack of fitness caught up with him. Looked strong and tough in the tackle but got dragged out of position by Valerie Germain on a couple of ocassions, although was not directly culpable for any of the goals.

Anas Hamzaoui – 5.5: Brought on at half-time, did not look too suspect either going forward or defensively.

Khoa Ngo – 5.5: Energetic as always, but failed to really influence the game and found opportunities to run at his opponent limited.

Jarrod Carluccio – 5.5: Might get the start at right-back next week if Josh Risdon is not fit. Was solid upon his introduction at half-time.

Abdul Faisal – 5: Looked lively early on the ball but struggled to beat an impressive Kealay Adamson and got caught out of position in the press early at times.

Taras Gomulka – 5: Showed some nice moments at times in the final third, linking with the forwards, but was unable to influence proceedings in the middle of the pitch. Too slow to react to a quick free-kick which brought about Macarthur’s fourth.

Zach Lisolajski – 4.5: Has played well in pre-season at left-back, but the natural centre-back was exposed against Jed Drew. Beaten too easily for the second goal and caught ball-watching for the sixth goal. Did make some strong tackles to redeem himself somewhat.

Brandon O’Neill – 4.5: Failed to offer the back four much protection as Jake Hollman found too much space, and then was unable to the game once in possession.

Kaelen Majekodunmi – 4: an unnatural right-back, Majekodunmi was hounded all game long by an impressive Marin Jakolis. Was ball-watching or out of position for multiple goals and his recovery runs were too delayed at times, allowing Jakolis space.

Andriano Lebib – 3.5: A rough starting debut for the highly-rated young defender. Caught ball-watching for the second and sixth goals, beaten for the third goal, did not press the ball carrier in the lead up to the fourth and was caught out of position for the fifth.

Luke Bodnar – 3.5: Inexplicably gave the ball straight to Jake Hollman for the first goal, but was caught out of position multiple times afterwards and was unable to affect the game in midfield. Taken off at half-time.

Nikola Milesunic – N/A: Came on for his first 10 minutes of action since last season and immediately suffered an apparent hamstring injury.
