The Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending is one of the lesser sought-after conclusions to the game.

The Age of the Duskborn ending has quite a lengthy questline, with Fia, Deathbed Companion, at its heart. Fia’s role in the game is a bit more mysterious than the others, as she first appears in a secluded corner of Elden Ring‘s Roundtable Hold. You can acquire the Baldachin’s Blessing when hugging her but doing so will also result in a health debuff.

Tip

You can remove the debuff by utilizing Baldachin’s Blessing item and increasing your Poise temporarily.

The Age of the Duskborn ending is one of the variants in the game, as the Tarnished does not become an Elden Lord. You will take a seat on the Throne, but you will also have ruined everything Marika had established till then. Elden Ring does not have a trophy related to witnessing all the game’s endings, unlike Silent Hill 2 Remake, but it does give you a reason to work through the many challenges once again.

To acquire the Age of the Duskborn ending, you must see through Fia’s questline to the very end. Along the way, you will face some very formidable foes and uncover the fate of one of the Demigods known in the world. Let’s go over the steps you need to carry out Fia’s quest and acquire the Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn.

Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn Begins With An Embrace and Much Discourse

The Weathered Blade is a key item in acquiring Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn.

Your first step in completing Fia’s questline is to visit her at the Roundtable Hold after beginning the festival at Redmane Castle to take down Starscourge Radahn. Along with the previously mentioned Blessing, you will also gain an additional line of dialogue and the Weather Dagger item.

You need to take this item to D, Hunter of the Dead, in the Roundtable Hold. You can identify him with his odd armor, which has a second head sprouting from the chest. He will inquire about the Dagger, and give some insight.

You must then speak with Rogier and inquire about his interest in the Black Knives, the shadowy assassins credited with the murder of Godwyn the Golden that triggered The Shattering. Once you have discussed this band with Rogier, return to Fia and speak with her to acquire the Knifeprint Clue, which reveals the location of a Black Knifeprint in the Black Knife Catacombs in Liurnia.

You will need to clear this Catacomb and acquire the Black Knifeprint to present to Rogier. Now, reload the area and speak with Fia again. She will now be inside a newly opened room next to the Blacksmith area, but she will disappear after exhausting her dialogue.

Acquire the Cursemark of Death to Progress the Quest

Fia’s quest is linked to Ranni’s quest, but both lead to very different endings.

This item is acquired as part of Ranni’s quest and can be acquired at the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia, east of the Artist’s Shack. To get to the top of this Tower, you will need the Carian Inverted Statue, which can be obtained by progressing Ranni’s quest, which requires you to clear Caria Manor, and access Renna’s Rise.

From here, acquire the Fingerslayer Blade by defeating Radahn and exploring the underground city of Nokron. Bring this item back to Ranni, and you will be given the Inverted Carian Statue, which can be used to ascend the Tower and acquire the Cursemark of Death above Ranni’s body, required to access Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending.

Becoming Elden Lord Requires Digging Deep and Getting Your Hands Dirty

Deeproot Depths can get confusing with its multitude of branching paths.

The next step in Fia’s quest is to gain entrance to the Deeproot Depths. This massive underground location has a lot to offer, and reaching it is no easy task. While the traditional route will have you facing several challenging bosses, the alternate route will require some delicate parkour. And we all know how well FromSoftware games perform during platforming sections.

Traditional Route

data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==
You can find the coffin at the back of the arena, behind the waterfall.

To get to the Deeproot Depths by the long route, you need to get to the end of the Siofra River and the Siofra Aqueduct. However, before this, you need to have defeated Starscourge Radahn to get to the underground city of Nokron. Go through the location until you arrive at the Night’s Sacred Ground.

There are a number of field bosses and Remembrance bosses to take down here, but the goal is to reach the Siofra Aqueduct after Nokron. You will once again encounter D, Hunter of the Dead, and you can then summon him for the next boss fight, the Valiant Gargoyles. It’s a double boss and can be quite challenging, so make sure to use a Spirit Ash summons along with D.

Finally, with the Gargoyles defeated, you can ride the coffin at the end of the arena to descend down to the Deeproot Depths and progress towards Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn.

Alternate Route

It’s a long way down, and expect to have to restart this section several times.

The alternate route can be shorter and can be found by visiting the Subterranean Shunning Grounds under Leyndell Capital. You will need to beat Morgott and then descend down the well in the Plaza to enter this location. Once here, you must progress through the winding sewers until you come upon the Cathedral of the Forsaken.

This is a dungeon-like area, and the final boss at the end is a variant of Mohg, the Omen. Behind the chest in the arena is a secret route, and this leads to the platforming section. You will need some adept footwork and well-placed jumps to make it all the way to the bottom to the Frenzied Flame Proscription site of grace.

Attack the wall on the southeast side of this site of grace, and you will reveal a secret path leading to the initial site of grace of the Deeproot Depths, and advance toward the Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending.

Defeat Fia’s Champions in Deeproot Depths

data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==
Fia’s champions can gang up on you, so don’t be shy about using a summon of your own.

Fight your way through the location and then climb the roots until you come to the Across the Roots site of grace. This will mark the entrance to a group boss fight where you must take down Fia’s Champions in three rounds to advance towards Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending.

The first round will be against a random nameless Spirit, the second will be against the ghost of Sorcerer Rogier, and the third round will be against the ghost of Lionel the Lionhearted and two other nameless champions. Some Elden Ring builds can help you gain an advantage, but the basic principle is to not let them surround you.

Once defeated, Fia will be present under Godwyn’s corpse. If you already have the Cursemark of Death in your inventory, you can proceed to provide this to her and receive the Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing in return. Choose to Talk in Secret, and then rest at the area’s grace before returning to Fia. You will find her asleep at the base of Godwyn’s corpse.

Interacting with her allows you to enter the Deathbed Dream, where you will have to fight and defeat Lichdragon Fortissax. It’s not an easy engagement, and the Ancient Dragon uses Death Blight, which can take you out very quickly.

When you manage to defeat him, you will exit the dream and acquire the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from Fia’s body in the real world. This is the item you need to acquire the Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending.

Defeat Radagon and Elden Beast

data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==
You can finally witness Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn begin by selecting the second option.

With the final piece of the puzzle acquired, now you need to simply defeat the game’s bosses. First comes Godfrey, First Elden Lord, who will also transform into Hoarah Loux, Warrior, in his second phase. After this, you can enter the Erdtree and face both Radagon of the Golden Order and the Elden Beast.

The two-part boss fight in Elden Ring is no joke, and many find that Radagon himself is too much to take down. Make sure you balance your flask usage, as you will need enough to survive both bosses. Thankfully, Torrent is now usable in the Elden Beast fight, making running away from his Elden Stars attack much easier.

Once you’ve defeated the final two bosses, you will now decide the fate of the world. To bring Death back to The Lands Between and experience the Elden Ring Age of the Duskborn ending, touch the Fractured Marika and use the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Now, in the Age of the Duskborn, those who are undead in the lands can exist without persecution from the living.

This is just one of the many Elden Ring endings you can witness depending on your in-game actions. Which ending is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below and check out our other Elden Ring guides to know how you can experience everything the game has to offer!
