Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact on Western North Carolina continues to unfold. Burnsville, a town just northeast of Asheville, was hit particularly hard. The Wiebe family, who had recently fled the war in Ukraine, experienced a heartbreaking loss when their home was swept away by the rising South Toe River. Four family members were lost in the floodwaters, with two tragically found dead and two still missing. Ricky Wiebe, speaking for his family, joins FOX Weather to share their story and the incredible resilience they’ve shown in the face of such tragedy.
