The anticipation for the release of Ghost of Yotei is very high. Players are excited to witness the giant leap of 300 years from its prequel and transition of the story from Tsushima to the heart of Ezo in Japan (modern-day Hokkaido). The game also introduces a female protagonist, Atsu, players will join her on a journey of discovery as she learns what it means to be a hero and wear the Ghost Mask.

While all these exciting new additions to the game are exciting and welcomed by the community, they also want Sucker Punch to embrace the Soulslike combat mechanics. This will allow the game to delve deeper into the combat experience and further enhance the already rich and immersive story. After all, Ghost of Tsushima has already the players a few glimpses of it.

Ghost of Tsushima presented players with breathtaking landscapes and an engaging story while also offering a glimpse into a world ready to be explored. The game allowed players to feel the tension of combat, which was particularly evident in the boss fight against the Eagle.

However, compared to the intensity of combat present in titles from Hidetake Miyazaki such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, it only scratched the surface of a more toned-down approach to difficulty. Enter Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to the beloved Ghost of Tsushima, which promises not only rich storytelling with impressive visual fidelity but also will introduce new combat mechanics and new weapons. 

After hearing the announcement, players also want the game to introduce an array of diverse and memorable foes, each with its own lore and combat style. Just imagine various bosses that can evolve through phases or have expansive attacking patterns, forcing players to adapt their strategies and embrace the brutal learning curve.

This will not only fully embrace the Soulslike mechanics but also increase community engagement. It will create camaraderie among the community as they share tips, strategies, and insights on how to defeat particular bosses. This is already happening with a few of Tsushima’s bosses where players have sought help from the community.

Even though Sucker Punch only scratched the surface with the original title, it managed to create a dedicated community that engages regularly. If it manages to dive deeper into the Miyazaki-inspired domain it will create an exhilarating experience with the upcoming sequel.

As anticipation builds for Ghost of Yotei, players’ expectations are high for what the game will deliver. Following the critical and commercial success of its prequel, the community is very eager to see how Sucker Punch Productions will innovate while honoring and maintaining the franchise’s core elements.
