Perth weather: City records hottest day since April, with thunderstorms expected over weekend in parts of WA

Perth has recorded its hottest day in six months, with the city warming up as the summer season looms.

Bureau of Meteorology’s senior forecaster Luke Huntington confirmed Perth reached a high of 31.4C on Friday — the hottest day since April 21, which reached a high of 31.1C.

Despite the temperatures rising across parts of WA, there are some areas in the State due for showers and thunderstorms over the weekend.

In the southern part of the State, Esperance will begin the weekend with a sunny Saturday morning, before a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

The wet weather will ease over Sunday, with just a slight chance of showers.

In the Goldfields region, there’s a slight chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening in Kalgoorlie on Saturday. However, sunny weather conditions are expected to dominate from Sunday.

Perth’s weekend weather will be mostly cloudy conditions, reaching a max temperature of 24C on Saturday, and 25C on Sunday, with just a 10 per cent chance of rain.

PERTH FORECAST:

SATURDAY: 24C, partly cloudy

SUNDAY: 25C, partly cloudy

MONDAY: 23C, shower or two

TUESDAY: 22C, possible morning shower

WEDNESDAY: 22C, shower or two

THURSDAY: 23C, shower or two
