According to a report from Need4Games, developer Nixxes is working on a remastered collection of the Greek-era God of War games, aiming for a release to coincide with the series’ 20th anniversary in 2025.

The trilogy remaster is anticipated to include God of War, God of War 2, God of War 3, Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, and Ascension. Outside of the PS4 remaster of God of War 3, this will be the first time these games are available on modern platforms.

In the original trilogy, Kratos is often shown as a merciless and rage-filled anti-hero. The story follows him on his quest for vengeance against the Greek gods, driven by the loss of his family. While these titles were known for their combat and scale, they also included the infamous s*x mini-games, which became a signature of the series.

That is why it’s a good idea to bring back old features such as the s*x mini-game. We’ll be reminded of the older, more chaotic Kratos and see the person he has become.

Even when obscured by blood and brutality, Kratos’ journey has always been one of personal growth. While the older gamers have seen this, newer ones have not.

What makes the franchise special is not just the violence or the epic scale of the battles, but the moments in between. The moments that humanize Kratos and allow players to see him as more than a relentless force of destruction.

The Aphrodite scene in God of War 3 is one such moment, where the complex nature of his character is laid bare, albeit through a satirical lens. If the rumored remake does happen, it’d be cool to see it return.
