It’s been exactly a month since Black Myth: Wukong took the gaming world by storm, shattering records and capturing the hearts of players across PC and PlayStation 5. But amidst the celebrations, one group of gamers has been left feeling like they’ve drawn the short straw: Xbox owners.

Despite initial promises of an Xbox Series X/S release, Game Science has been suspiciously quiet on the matter, leaving many to wonder if the highly anticipated action RPG will ever grace Microsoft’s console. And now, a new report on the game’s upcoming DLC has only added fuel to the fire.

The Curious Case of the Missing Xbox Port

According to Daniel Camilo, a Shenzhen-based publishing and gaming consultant, Black Myth: Wukong‘s first DLC is set to arrive sooner than many expected:

DLC for Black Myth Wukong will come out somewhere near the Chinese New Year, 2025.

That is, right at the end of January, or very soon after.

This is according to very reliable first hand sources I heard from.

While this news is undoubtedly exciting for fans eager to dive back into the game’s stunningly dark take on the world of Chinese mythology, it’s raised some eyebrows among Xbox owners who are still waiting for any news on their version of the base game.

To make matters worse, rumors have been swirling that Game Science originally planned for Black Myth: Wukong to have a whopping 13 chapters, but had to cut it down to 6 due to budget constraints:

Game Science aims to launch 2 DLC's for BM:W before the release of their next game, Black Myth: Jiang Ziya.

The game was meant to have 13 chapters, but they released only 6 longer chapters because of the budget.

With the game’s massive success, one would think that Game Science now has the resources to not only finish those remaining chapters, but also to finally bring the game to Xbox. So why the radio silence?

A Bitter Pill to Swallow for Xbox Fans

Some have speculated that the delay may be due to technical issues with the Xbox port, while others have suggested that Game Science may have struck some kind of exclusivity deal with Sony. But as the weeks turn into months with no official word, it’s starting to feel like Xbox owners may have been left out in the cold.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the developers are simply taking their time to ensure that the Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong is as polished as possible. After all, the last thing anyone wants is a rushed port that fails to live up to the game’s high standards.

But with DLC plans already in motion and rumors of a sequel in the works, it’s hard not to feel like the Xbox has become an afterthought for Game Science. And that’s a bitter pill to swallow for fans who have been eagerly awaiting their chance to experience the game’s unique blend of action, mythology, and stunning visuals.

As the saying goes, hope springs eternal. But as the wait for Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox stretches on with no end in sight, that hope is starting to wear thin. Here’s hoping that the company breaks their silence soon, and that Xbox owners won’t have to wait until the Year of the Monkey to finally get their hands on this masterpiece.

What do you think about the lack of news on Black Myth: Wukong‘s Xbox port? Do you think Game Science has given up on Microsoft’s console, or are they just taking their time to get it right? Let us know in the comments below!
