However, when the recommended system requirements were revealed, players were surprised. Many even began to question how a 14-year-old game requires such high specs, particularly the requirement for an RTX 2070 GPU. This is baffling, especially since the game was originally released in 2010 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Red Dead Redemption Releasing with Disappointing Specs Requirement On PC

Red Dead Redemption was a groundbreaking title for its time as it delivered an immersive open-world experience filled with rich storytelling and engaging gameplay. So with the recent resurgence of remasters and ports that have made older games more accessible and visually stunning, fans knew that RDR would also follow suit. Players’ wishes got heard and it is releasing on October 29th.

However, when the recommended specs were released, many players were taken aback to see that an RTX 2070 was listed as the requirement for optimal performance. This is particularly surprising given that the game came from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era. At that time, graphics cards like the GTX 660 and 760 were more than sufficient for gaming. Even RDR was able to showcase high fidelity.

Obviously, players are concerned and have been very vocal about their discontent. Many have taken this to various social media platforms and gaming forums, raising important many questions. Such as why such high demands or did the development team prioritized graphical fidelity too much. The community wants answers from Rockstar.

Some players are showing the specs of the PlayStation 3 in anger.

Some are asking the developers to clarify why such an old game needs such high specs.

Others can’t believe that the game requires RTX 2070.

While some rightfully point out that its sequel RDR 2 needs lower specs.

Some are worried that the game will be unoptimized.

All these comments highlight the concern for the PC port. Many feel that the system’s requirement is this high because developers didn’t optimize the game properly. This revelation has raised warning in their minds and they are worried that their gameplay experience will be ruined.

Rockstar Games is known for its ability to create expansive worlds where both the narrative and the graphical fidelity are always consistently high. But with the release of Red Dead Redemption on PC, players are worried that it went too deep on achieving fidelity. This resulted in forgetting about optimizing the game properly for all the range of specs.

Many are rightfully questioning why a 14-year-old game needs an RTX 2070 to run optimally. Even its highly acclaimed sequel Red Dead Redemption 2, released on PC needed lower specs (only requiring GTX 1060 for optimal performance) while offering immersive visuals.

Up until the release of system requirements, the excitement for the PC port of Red Dead Redemption was high. However, these high demands have put a stop to the excitement of what should have been a triumphant return. As players are preparing themself to revisit the Wild West, they are left questioning not just the specifications but also the intent behind the port itself.

In the end, players hope that the final product is well-optimized and able to deliver an experience worthy of its legacy. Also that it will be enjoyed by players across a range of systems, not just by gamers who have top-tier gaming rigs.
