How To Unlock Sealed Spiritsprings

How To Unlock Sealed Spiritsprings

If you want to get about the Land of Shadows easily in Elden Ring, then learning how to unlock Sealed Spiritsprings is an essential step in making traversal easy. These Springs were present in the base game as well, but all of them were active and could be used at any time when riding Torrent.

In the Land of Shadow, it seems it is not only Grace that has been stifled, as many of these Spiritsprings are blocked and cannot be used in their current form. To get the air columns flowing once more, the Tarnished will have to explore the map and find the Seals needed to unlock them.

Taking to the skies in Shadow of the Erdtree is a bit more difficult.

In the base game, the Spiritsprings allowed the Tarnished to access new areas and find shortcuts around tall cliffs. They can also help the player descend great heights without incurring fall damage, and make getting around the Lands Between much easier. The same principle applies in the Elden Ring DLC but with the added challenge of unlocking some of the Springs that have been closed off.

You can tell when a Spring is sealed by the short air column and the presence of a spectral rock formation atop the Spring. This indicates there is a Rock Cairn that must be found and destroyed to release the Spring and allow for it to be used for traversal. These Cairns are usually found within the vicinity of the Spring but require some exploration to find and unlock.

Tip

If you have either Margit or Mohg’s Shackle, you can use that to unlock these Springs. Get close to one and then use the Shackle. It will destroy the Cairn and release the Spring without you having to physically search for the Cairn.

While many of these Seals may be hidden behind some bushes or atop a ladder, they are easy to spot as they have a glowing aura. You can choose to go the Margit’s Shackle method, but if you wish to explore and find your way in the game, here are all the Sealed Spiritsprings in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Head straight from the Sealed Spiritspring, defeat the enemies, and find the Seal.

From the Ruined Forge Laval Intake dungeon, head north until you hit a mountain pass underneath a cliff. Move through this location and continue northeast until you find the first Sealed Spiritspring of Shadow of the Erdtree.

The Seal is easy to find as you just need to explore this area a bit, and you can use this Spring to get to the Fort of Reprimand Site of Grace, giving you access to Scadu Altus without beating Renalla, bringing you closer to completing the DLC.

Head up the path in front of the Spiritspring and you’ll find the Seal.

You can find this Spiritspring by moving southeast from the position where you got the Rauh Ruins Map Fragment. The Seal is on a cliff to the west of the Spring and can be used to reach the Northern Nameless Mausoleum where you can face the Red Bear in combat and gain his armor and the Red Bear’s Claws.

Move to the end of this Shadow of the Erdtree location to find the seal.

From the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, West site of grace, head directly north to a small pond with a Spiritspring. You will also find a Furnace Golem here, and you can decide to take it down or run past it to get the spring open. From the same site of grace, head through the doorway, and work through the Ruins until you come to a lever to call down the elevator.

Ride the elevator to the top, cut across the pond, and follow along the cliff side to the very end of this area. You will find the seal in the corner and you can destroy it to activate the Spring.

Destroy the wall in front of you between the crystals to find the seal.

You can reach this location by heading east from the Church District Highroad site of grace. The Spiritspring can be found towards the back of this tower, and finding the Seal is easy. Head into the tower and ascend the steps until you come to the first office-like room.

Directly ahead of you will be two archways, with glinstone crystal growths on either side. This is a false wall and striking or rolling at it will uncover the balcony. The Seal can be found on this balcony and destroyed to activate the Spring.

Those are all the Sealed Spiritspring locations in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, and now you’ll be able to get around the Land of Shadows much quicker! Which region in the DLC is your favorite?
