How To Get the Meteorite Staff

How To Get the Meteorite Staff

For those looking to run a mage or spellsword build in Elden Ring, learning how to get the Meteorite staff can give them a great early-game advantage. The game boasts an impressive array of magical staves, each of which boasts a wide array of scaling and buffs that should suit every type of magic user.

The scaling of a staff will determine how much damage your spells will do when using it as a casting catalyst. Some staves are better than others for particular types of magic, and Elden Ring’s Meteorite Staff has quickly become an early-game favorite among many. But getting to the Meteorite Staff location is no easy task.

The Meteorite Staff makes throwing rocks a formidable strategy.

Gear acquisition in a game like Elden Ring is often fraught with danger. Usually, the really good loot will be found in the most intimidating areas. Few locations in the game can be considered as intimidating as Caelid, with its scarlet skies and monstrously mutated animals. But if you want to get the Meteorite Staff in Elden Ring, you will need to head to the very heart of this region.

Now, there are two specific ways you can get to Caelid. The first is the traditional method, where you follow the roads and activate sites of grace along the way. The second is the more chaotic method, where you get transported directly into a mine in Caelid.

Tip

If you do wish to get transported directly, you can find the chest in the Dragon Burnt Ruins in Limgrave, and then go to the Ruins in the Swamp mentioned in the guide below.

The latter is quicker, but you’ll have to find many enemies along the way. Considering the Meteorite Staff is mainly useful for beginners, we recommend taking the traditional method, as you will also be able to activate grace sites to use for quick travel in the future.

Begin your Journey at a Church

The Third Church of Marika will be your starting point.

If you’re taking the traditional way to get to the Meteorite Staff location, you want to first head over to the Third Church of Marika. If this is a fresh playthrough, this is where you will first pick up your Flask of Wondrous Physick and the Crimson Crystal Tear, making it a very important location to visit in the game.

Once you’ve collected these two, head towards the north to the marker indicated in the image. Here you will find a spirit spring that you can use to get over the cliff using Torrent. There are a total of three springs that you must ride upwards, and after getting over the final one, you’ll be able to see the red skies, which signal you are walking into Caelid.

Activate the First Caelid Site of Grace

Rotview Balcony will be your first real step into Caelid Wilds.

Once you are atop the cliff, follow the curving path until you come to the Rotview Balcony. As this is your first glimpse of Caelid, you can use this vantage point to survey the area and see what Malenia has brought onto the land with her Aeonian Bloom when fighting Radahn.

From this site, you can also backtrack a bit and head to the Smoldering Church, where you will need to battle Anastasia, the Tarnished Eater, to pick up the cookbooks in the location.

Head to the Smoldering Wall

The Telescope icon will be present even without the site of grace so you know where to go.

Follow along the path from Rotview Balcony, and you will come upon the Smoldering Wall site of grace. Here, you can use the telescope to get a better lay of the land before moving on toward the southeast, where you will find yourself at the shore of a bubbling swamp.

Traverse the Geyser-Ridden Swamp

Head towards the Ruins with the marker, once you reach the Aeonia Swamp shore.

As you follow the path southeast, you will come upon the Aenia Swamp Shore. You will need to cross this swamp to get to the Meteorite Staff by heading toward the Street of Sages Ruins, which is close to the western shore and marked with a map marker in the image.

Be careful when riding across this area, as even though Torrent is not affected by the Scarlet Rot, you will be hurt if a geyser explodes underneath you.

Head Toward the Structure on the Left Side in the Back

data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==
Head towards the stone structure on the left side of the image.

There will be some mushroom-head enemies who will shoot poison magic projectiles at you as you approach the ruins. You want to head to the tower structure in the back on the left-hand side of the ruins. Get off torrent and go to the base of the tower, where you will find several minor Miranda flowers.

These can spew Scarlet Rot mists, and with their numbers, they can easily induce the status effect on the player. It’s a good idea to draw them out and deal with them one by one to avoid getting Rotted.

Pick Up the Meteorite Staff from the Body

You will find the Meteorite Staff in the body stuck in this opening.

Head into the alcove after defeating the Miranda Flowers, and you can pick up the staff from the body in the window. Since you’re already here, you can also explore the Ruins until you come to a stone archway.

Head down the stairs, raise the door, and you’ll find the spell in the chest. It’s a great offensive spell that deals both magic and physical damage and can cause decent stagger against enemies like Midra.

The Meteorite Staff is useful for early-game bosses but gets outclassed later on.

The reason all early-game mages would benefit from this staff in their inventory is that it has an S-tier scaling with Intelligence. Added to that, it requires only 18 Intelligence to wield, making it a viable staff for someone who wants to use specific spells.

The staff also provides a boost to Gravity magic damage by 30%, making it a perfect pairing with Rock Sling when dealing with early-game bosses such as Margit.

The major downside of the staff is that it cannot be upgraded in any way, making the damage entirely reliant on your level of Intelligence. While you may find it useful for the start of the game, you will soon find better staves around the world that can be strengthened for better damage even with Gravity magic.
