People Are Roasting A Republican Senator For Apparently Not Knowing How Periods Work

Hello and welcome to the millionth edition of male lawmakers who seemingly do not understand how women’s bodies work. Today’s talking point comes from Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy.

Yes, the 72-year-old appeared on Fox News’s Hannity to complain about the federal response to Hurricane Helene. During this, he said, “You can’t make this stuff up. In the last couple of days, the vice president goes on some show called Call Her Daddy or ‘Call Your Daddy’ or ‘Who’s Your Daddy?’ or something.”

“I like ‘Who’s Your Daddy?’ better,” referring to Kamala Harris’s appearance on the popular podcast hosted by Alex Cooper. According to Spotify, Call Her Daddy is the podcast most listened to by women on the platform. “Among other things, she’s talking about tampons.”

“You know, the people of Appalachia right now don’t give a function about tampons. They need water. They need to get out. I’ll say it again: You cannot make this stuff up,” he added.

People on X swiftly called out the clip, as it’s worth noting that hurricane relief efforts do include health products (like tampons!):

Yet again, another man trying to tell us what women need or don’t need.

Why do Republicans ignore women and their needs? It is like we don’t exist. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Guess what, women in Appalachia who can’t get their monthly supplies do. There’s nothing like having yet another stressful thing to deal with on top of everything else. These clowns need to stop speaking for women.

I’ve never used a tampon, and my memory is a bit hazy about 8th-grade Health Ed, but perhaps those who do use tampons still need to use them even after a devastating hurricane, and might need a bit of help getting them. https://t.co/lob7ZbbIBg

It’s worth addressing the only time that tampons are mentioned throughout the entirety of the 45-minute Call Her Daddy episode. At one point, Alex describes TikToks she’s seen: “I have seen girls on the street walk up to men and be like, do you know where a tampon goes? […] And they don’t know the answer.”

In response, Kamala says, “I was the first vice president or president in office to go to a reproductive healthcare clinic, ever.”

Perhaps a place that John could benefit from visiting!
