Most players will struggle to face off against the Crucible Knight since it is one of the few bosses with a second phase. Fighting this enemy with a strong melee build can do the trick; however, fighting aggressively will make you more susceptible to damage.

Summoning other allies will not work against the Crucible Knight. Elden Ring players will have to fight this enemy one-on-one.

Parrying is key for this boss battle, and players should have familiarized themselves with the attack patterns and know when to either dodge or block. The Crucible Knight is arguably one of the harder optional bosses in the base game, unlike Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion can be defeated after one phase, this enemy has two. To add to that, there are sixteen of them total throughout the game.

Fighting this enemy aggressively can result in more harm than good. The defense of the Crucible Knight is significantly higher and players will likely go in swinging with their weapons and best build hoping for the best, while the strategy is sound, it is worth noting that the longer you stay within its reach or range, you will have a higher chance of taking damage.

However, the Crucible Knight is not afraid to exchange a few blows with the Tarnished and its attacks are significantly stronger than the player’s. There is no shame in running away, especially when the fight is heading downhill and the odds are in their favor.

Players rocking a ranged build will have to struggle with their shots, especially against this aggressive enemy. The Crucible Knights have no shortage of attacks like the Diagonal Slam, Lunging Stab, Running Slash, Shield Bash, Grinding Swing, Seismic Wave, and a few more in the first phase.

The second phase gets even crazier after the Crucible Knight manifests a pair of wings allowing it to fly and deliver more damage from above. The Airborne Swinging Attack is difficult to dodge and block, especially with the insane speed and power of this attack meanwhile the Tail Swipe deals medium damage that can be dodged however the reach is impressive.

The Crucible Knight is relentless and will take every opportunity to strike. Keeping your distance will be hard, especially in the second phase. Healing is a must; however, there is only a short window of opportunity.

Patience is key and players can choose to deflect and counter incoming attacks and should have the timing down. The fight against the Crucible Knight is unlike most optional boss battles and is a straight-up battle to the death. Striking and running away is a great option.
