Live Out Your Next-Door Dream in Neighbors: Suburban Warfare

At one point, everyone has dreamed of punishing a neighbor for doing something irritating. Perhaps their car is too loud, or they have a habit of letting their garbage cans overflow. In Invisible Walls’ ‘Neighbors: Suburban Warfare’, you can take those fantasies of enacting revenge and live them out in a harmless, digital environment.

In Neighbors, the suburbs will never be the same.

In a world perpetuated by intense shooters, gritty milsims, and harrowing stories, it’s refreshing to see something a little more lighthearted surface. Invisible Walls has just lifted the lid on Neighbors: Suburban Warfare, a ‘slaphappy PvP lawn-wrecking game’.

In Neighbors, players assume control of a character hellbent on destroying the house next door using a range of abilities and everyday household items. The synopsis for this title is nothing short of intriguing:

Neighbors: Suburban Warfare is set in the idyllic suburban town of Heartsville, where all is dandy, or so it seems. There’s just one thing – the town’s inhabitants have had just about enough of each other. Players will be able to pick from a wide range of neighbors, from Doreen the old cheerful lady to the neighborhood rascal Kevin, each equipped with a unique ability and item.

Once players choose their neighbor, they will spawn in one of five houses, each with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. Victory can be achieved through gathering resources to upgrade players’ weapons and houses, and ultimately bringing down the opposing neighbors’ home.

It sounds great at first blush – smash the heck out of your neighbor’s house before they can retaliate. With friends, turn your house into a veritable fortress and defend relentlessly against the onslaught of those who live close by.

It has taken Invisible Walls three years to get the game to this state, which is something the firm’s CEO, David Jean Heldager, spoke about:

We’re excited to finally share more about it! Neighbors: Suburban Warfare is at its heart a chaotic, fun multiplayer, but it’s elevated to new heights if players work together and communicate.

We’ve played hours upon hours internally and never ran out of fun things to do, and we’d like to invite all players that are interested to join our Discord where we organise community playtests or wishlist the game on Steam!

The entertainment value should be nuts. Let us know on the Insider Gaming forum if this is your kind of game.
