Starbucks launches Milano Duetto across the globe

Starbucks has announced the launch of Milano Duetto at all its participating stores located across the globe, to celebrate International Coffee Day.

The company noted that the new blend was developed by master roasters in Milan and Seattle and offers two contrasting roasts – the light Starbucks Milano Sole and the dark Starbucks Milano Luna.

Throughout this month, these roasts will be the featured brewed coffees in Starbucks stores worldwide.

The Milano Duetto blend is a testament to Starbucks’ long-standing relationships with smallholder farmer communities in Colombia and Sumatra, from where the coffee is sourced.

Starbucks partner employee and coffee developer Sergio Alvarez said: “The best way to understand the nuances and the effect roasting has on the coffee creation process is to compare the same blend roasted two different ways.

“Our hope is that after tasting these coffees, our partners and customers are inspired, and perhaps have that ‘aha’ moment that many baristas have when tasting coffee. The moment where one wants to learn more.”

Alvarez was also part of the team that crafted Starbucks Milano Duetto.

The South American coffee’s processing method delivers heightened acidity and a clean finish while the semi-washed Sumatran coffee provides a full body with earthy, herbal notes.

Starbucks global coffee and sustainability executive vice-president Michelle Burns said: “For Starbucks, coffee has always been a lens through which we see the world – a world rich in diversity, tradition, and innovation.

“Milan’s rich coffee culture – which served as the inspiration for Starbucks coffeehouse culture – and Starbucks’ 50+ year history and expertise in coffee roasting have inspired this new line of limited-release, special edition coffees, Starbucks Milano Sole and Starbucks Milano Luna.”

Last month, Starbucks launched the Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte in the US.

“Starbucks launches Milano Duetto across the globe” was originally created and published by Verdict Food Service, a GlobalData owned brand.
