An Albany man accused of a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 43-year-old man in August has appeared in court for the first time.

Jason Stuart Wansbrough appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with careless driving causing grievous bodily harm or bodily harm, failing to report an incident to police and failing to stop after a road incident.

The 49-year-old allegedly struck a 43-year-old male pedestrian about 9.15pm on August 10.

St John WA took the victim to Albany Health Campus about 9.20pm with serious injuries.

Investigating police blocked off Sanford Road between Ashford Street and Graham Street on August 11.

Mr Wansbrough’s legal aid lawyer Wendy Stewart requested an adjournment for legal advice.

His bail was varied to include a $900 personal undertaking.

Mr Wansbrough will next appear in Albany Magistrates Court on October 24.
