(WFRV) – Authorities in northern Wisconsin are advising motorists to pay attention after an increase in severe crashes that is resulting in more enforcement in the rural parts of the county.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page saying that there will be increased enforcement in rural parts of the county. The post says that it will be a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin State Patrol and the sheriff’s office.

Officials say there has been a recent increase in ‘severe’ crashes. Authorities wanted to remind motorists to put their phones away, slow down, move over for emergency vehicles and stop for school buses.

Due to the recent increase in severe crashes, there will be increased enforcement in rural Douglas County. It will be a collaborative effort between State Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office to ensure our roads are safe.
