As the curtain falls on another AFL season the party has barely begun for Brisbane with hundreds of fans turning up to celebrate their premiership heroes in Melbourne.

For the first time in 21-years the Lions stand on top of the football world and though a few players looked rough around the edges they were not going to miss the chance to celebrate with their fans.

Less than 24 hours after Brisbane blew Sydney off the park by 60 points in the grand final the Lions were at Brunswick Street Oval in Melbourne as thousands of fans turned out to share in their team’s success.

One man everyone wanted to get a selfie with was Will Ashcroft who became the youngest player in history to win the Norm Smith medal at just 20-years-old.

A few players were rocking sunglasses with it not hard to imagine some saw very little sleep overnight though the premiership medals around their necks would likely relieve any ill feelings.

One man who was definitely struggling was Lachie Neale who rocked up in a moon boot after the star had revealed he heard something snap in his foot in the final quarter of yesterday’s game.

However the dual Brownlow medallist said he could care less about his ailment.

“I couldn’t give a s***,” he said.

“It’s a little bit sore this morning but that’s probably because I was up until 6am on it, so the physio has put me in a boot this morning.

“I’ll be fine, mate.”

Neale made the high-profile switch to Brisbane from Fremantle at the end of 2018 in chase of premiership success.

Having now reached the top of the AFL mountain Neale said it’s even better than he imagined.

“You always imagine that moment and think it’s going to be incredible,” he said.

“Words can’t really describe how incredible the last (period of time) since that final siren.

“I can’t really say the best moment of my life, otherwise my wife will kill me, but very close.”
