A tiny invasive beetle wreaking havoc on Perth’s trees is blowing holes in budgets across the city as major rescue operations leave multimillion-dollar bills.

The $4 million already spent in response to the catastrophic polyphagous shot-hole borer by just eight councils was “just the tip of the iceberg”, WA Local Government Association president Karen Chappel said.
