Over the years, Bethesda has brought the gaming community some generation hits that completely redefined the industry, but nothing has ever managed to reach the likes of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Starfield. Both games by the company prove how it’s really the king of the RPG genre.

What’s so special about these games? Well, unlike the competition, they bring some of the best immersive worlds that can keep you hooked for hours with endless exploration. Sure, it might make the games feel too large, but it’s part of Bethesda’s master plan.

Starfield‘s upcoming Shattered Space DLC is right around the corner, and gamers simply can’t wait. Due to the game’s initial reception, players hope that with this DLC, Bethesda will finally deliver on the potential of the IP and solidify it as the face of the modern RPG genre.

While chatting about the development of the sci-fi RPG, Bethesda’s boss, Todd Howard, opened up about the struggles of crafting Starfield, particularly the use of planet-generation technology. He also touched upon the scope of the company’s games and explained why they’re so huge.

We cut very little from our games at Bethesda, which is why the games are so irresponsibly large. And it really comes to the whole team, you know, putting a lot of creativity into the game. It’s obviously not just me, and I think that’s what really makes them special.

Howard notes that Bethesda rarely decides to axe content from its projects, which leads to the vast size of its games. He credits the development team’s efforts for creativity, which make the company’s games unique, and says that the expansive and detailed worlds are a collaborative effort that defines the Bethesda magic.

Bethesda’s commitment to creating large and immersive worlds without abandoning creative ideas has allowed them to bring unparalleled exploration in their games, where every corner hides a new quest, challenge, or discovery. These details reflect the company’s dedication to the gaming community, making each journey a truly epic experience.

Let’s hope Howard and his team replicate this formula with the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6, which could even edge Grand Theft Auto 6 if it follows the classic Bethesda formula.

You’ll be shocked to know, but it’s been over a year since the release of Starfield. While it’s a great game that has certainly captured the attention of the industry, it’s still flawed in many aspects.

Right from its launch, critics and gamers have bashed it for lacking a strong creative vision and engaging narrative. Heck, few even believe that it couldn’t innovate on the company’s established formula.

Despite all that criticism, Howard and his team over the last year have worked hard to consistently update the game and solve its fundamental issues. However, Bethesda is now looking to take things to the extreme with the upcoming Shattered Space DLC that’s set to bring new worlds, weapons, enemies, and much more.

Let’s hope Bethesda has heard the community feedback and brings us an expansion that truly ends up shattering expectations. This is critical, considering that the DLC’s reception will outright impact how the company approaches its next project.

With that said, are you excited about Starfield‘s upcoming DLC? If so, let us know in the comments below.
