In 2024, we got some of the biggest titles like Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, and many more which claim to win the Game of the Year award. Starry Studio’s Once Human is another name on that list. This post-apocalyptic third-person open-world title was released on July 9, 2024.

The game has already crossed 10 million downloads and was ranked number 5 globally on Steam in the list of the most played titles in September. Amidst this major success, the developers are setting up a special plan that can potentially make the game the best of this year.

During Gamescom 2024, the Head of Overseas Operations for Once Human, Derek Qiu, spoke about the game’s future roadmaps along with upcoming features and updates. Along with this, he also clarified some doubts of the gaming community as well.

The company is planning to merge everything into a single, unified community through crossplay. And this is what Qiu had to say about their next plan (via WCCF TECH):

We are going to publish another PvP scenario, which will come in September. This one will be a refreshing gaming experience for the PvP players, and then in October, we will have another PvE scenario, which is still in progress. But we will have new Tyrants, and new monsters. In the long-term pipeline we will also go on mobile and on consoles. We haven’t published our official announcement on those yet, but it will be published very soon.

This will be the first of its kind that a huge game like Once Human will be available not only on both PC and consoles but on mobiles as well. And the most interesting part is that all of the devices will support crossplay.

Even big titles like Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2 never dared to pull off such a brave plan. Multi-platform titles have always been a great opportunity for bigger exposure to fans; that’s why games like Bloodborne need a sequel too.

Just when things are going great, Starry Studios has launched the update 1.2 to make it even greater. As promised by Qiu, the update brings a lot of new features and fixes along with a new PvP mode and ranching upgrades.

The PvP scenario is called Primeverse’s Clash. In this mode, you will end up fighting for either the Rosetta or Mayfly factions to secure Prism Deviations. To ace the mode, you have to find and secure the Prism Deviations in the contested area.

In this mode, you will locate Memetic Specializations, which will include the ones from the opposing faction as well as some unique to the event. A fun fact is that this gear won’t be lost after you die.

Other than the PvP mode, the highlight of this update is the overhaul change in the ranching system, which was introduced in the 1.1 update. You will get to see three new animal types for your ranch: Capybaras, Flamingos, and Leopards. These animals will start breeding in favorable conditions, and you will have a higher taming ability.
