The Last of Us Season 2 slated for release this year

The Last of Us Season 2 slated for release this year

It’s been almost two full years since HBO’s The Last of Us Season 1 started in January 2023 and ended the following March. After a bit of a lengthy wait, the premiere for The Last of Us Season 2 has finally been announced.

Late at night on Monday January 6 the Twitter account for TLOU dev Naughty Dog dropped the trailer for the upcoming season, ending with an April 2025 premiere date. Perhaps needless to say, TLOU Season 2 picks up after the finale of Season 1. The trailer heavily features Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, after the actress was cast in the role since early last year, via Variety.

Several scenes in the trailer teased events to come, including a horde of Infected attempting to climb up a wall and a scene recreating a kiss involving protagonist Ellie (played by Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey). As a contrast to Season 1 covering the events of the entire first game in the TLOU franchise, Part 2’s story is confirmed to be split into multiple seasons (according to ComicBook).

Until HBO, Sony, and Naughty Dog officially reveals the exact premiere day for TLOU Season 2, you can still expect the season to stream on Max. The same goes with presumptions that episodes will release on a weekly basis just like with the first season.

The Last of Us Season 2 kicks off in April 2025 on Max.
