After Ghost of Tsushima‘s huge success, it was evident that we were closing into a sequel. That is why Ghsot of Yotei was announced in the recently concluded PlayStation’s State of Play. However, this time fans will be going beyond the story of Jin Sakai and the Tsushima island.

The game will have a new protagonist and a new location as well in feudal Japan of the 17th century. Huge hype surrounding the game is surging day by day. But some people have taken a pledge to criticize the game baselessly because of a certain biased factor. And these critics might have a tight slap soon like they got in 2016.

Ghost of Yotei is going to be plotting its storyline 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. Although the upcoming title is not going to be a direct sequel to its predecessor, we will be going to see a new samurai warrior as a protagonist in the game, Atsu.

Now, the main problem for many people is regarding the gender of Atsu, as she will be the first female protagonist of the series. Their claim is that the franchise, which is built on masculinity, cannot be directed by women.

Frankly speaking, these claims and criticisms are biased and nonsensical. As of now, the developers have released only an announcement trailer and a PlayStation Blog post. So, criticizing a character just because of her gender, and that too when little content or exposure of her character is available, is purely pointless.

Yes, after the game’s release, if Atsu fails to deliver the legacy of Jin Sakai, then she might be facing huge backlash, and that’s absolutely fine. But what is happening right now is absolutely not. The same thing happened with Naoe in Assassin’s Creed Shadows as well.

Blatantly criticizing a game way before its release is nothing new in the gaming fraternity. Before the release of Doom (2016), everyone thought the main antagonist of the game, Olivia Pierce, who was a female character, would never touch the benchmark set by Malcolm Betruger in Doom 3. However, after the release, she exceeded the benchmark and went on to set a new one.

Criticism based on logical reasons is always appreciated. But the kind of baseless hate Ghost of Yotei is getting is utterly disgraceful. The previous game of the franchise has given fans a lot.

Hence, Sucker Punch never deserved such criticism for the game, which is not even out. That is why former PlayStation executive Shawn Layden didn’t hold up and gave a strong reply to all the idiotic haters of this game:

Seeing Layden’s reply, it’s pretty clear that he himself is very disgusted with these so-called ‘critics.’ He didn’t bother to beg them to try out the game first but rather told them not to buy it if they were not liking it, which was a brave move.

The first point of the reply also makes a lot of sense after hearing the statement from Senior Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb at Sucker Punch. In a PlayStation.Blog, he stated that the company would “create something fresh but familiar” and assured us that he wanted to “continue to innovate.”

What’s your opinion on these senseless criticisms that Ghost of Yotei is facing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
