Key forward Dustin Walters joins Boulder for 2025 GFL season

Boulder City Football Club officials have wasted no time in their efforts to improve on this year’s unsuccessful flag defence in the Goldfields Football League by signing Victorian key position player Dustin Walters for next season.

Walters this year kicked 36 goals in 18 games for Colac in Victoria’s Barwon Football League.

His signing is barely a month after the Tigers bowed out of the 2024 flag race.

The squad finished third but were no match for Kalgoorlie in the first semifinal, losing by 56 points.

After Boulder won the 2023 flag, Aaron Sweet handed over the coaching role to Simon Edwards but his task was made difficult from the start after a big chunk of the premiership squad left the region.

Injuries also played a part in the Tigers’ struggles, with Brett Blair sustaining a season-ending knee injury against Kambalda in round 15 and they lost four of their last five games.

Boulder announced on Thursday via social media that more signings were being negotiated.
