There’s no denying the fact that GTA 6 is the industry’s most-awaited game at the moment. It’s set to be an unprecedented blockbuster when it eventually debuts in 2025, with gamers having waited a whopping 12 years since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 to get their hands on this title.

While we’ve received quite a substantial amount of GTA 6 leaks, in terms of official news on the game, Rockstar hasn’t revealed anything in the last 300 days. To date, the game has only received one trailer, and there’s no word when we could expect next. Fans are tired of waiting, but these numbers are rookie when we talk about that one Bethesda game that last received an update six years ago.

It’s been more than a decade since Bethesda visited The Elder Scrolls franchise, so it’s natural that gamers want to see a little more of the next big, highly-anticipated installment of the series. You’ll think the company will try its best to capitalize on such a fan-favorite series, but that hasn’t been the case.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was revealed all the way back in 2018 with a brief teaser that left everyone on the edge of their seats. It’s been six years, but there’s still no official news about Bethesda’s most anticipated RPG since that day. We’ve seen some news regarding the game in recent years, but they were all tied to other massive Xbox releases, such as the Fable.

So, why hasn’t Bethesda hasn’t given us anything about the next Elder Scrolls game? Well, the studio’s hands are full with multiple projects. 2023’s Starfield is still the center of focus for the studio, and the developers are in full swing to elevate the title’s mediocre gameplay with DLCs and expansions that look to pack a punch.

On top of that, it seems like after the failure of Fallout 76, Todd Howard and his team have learned a lesson. If you’re unaware, the game was a buggy mess right from its debut, which led to massive outrage among fans. Bugs are a consistent feature of Bethesda games, but 76 took things to the extreme.

Bethesda surely doesn’t want to repeat the same blunder with its most legendary IP and wants to give the game enough development time to iron out the creases. It’s said to be the biggest entry in the franchise’s history, so it makes sense why development is taking that long.

Elder Scrolls 6 is definitely not a myth. All we need to do is give the developers the time they require to create a masterpiece, just like the upcoming GTA 6. We’ve already waited six years; a few more can’t make things any worse.

While we still don’t have a release date for Elder Scrolls 6, one thing is for sure: the game is indeed in development. It’s the next release for Bethesda Game Studios; now they’re wrapped up with Starfield.

The next chapter in the Elder Scrolls franchise can be expected no earlier than 2026 for PC and Xbox Series S/X. This is according to one of the lawyers representing Microsoft during last year’s trials based on the company’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.

Given Microsoft’s acquisition of the developer, there’s a slight chance that the next Elder Scrolls might be an Xbox exclusive. This could play right into the hands of Xbox, which has been in a steep decline lately.

With that said, what would you like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game? Let us know in the comments below.
