The National Weather Service in Atlanta has issued flood watches and important updates for Georgia regarding Tropical Storm Helene, which is expected to impact north and central Georgia from Thursday into Friday.

North Georgia, from Macon and northward, are currently under a Tropical Storm Watch.

According to the latest information as of September 25, residents in these areas, including Athens and northeast Georgia, should prepare for significant weather events.

A flood watch is in effect for all of north and central Georgia through Friday. Heavy rainfall associated with Helene will likely lead to flooding, making it crucial for residents to take precautionary measures now.

Additionally, as Helene tracks north, short-lived tornadoes may be possible to the east of the storm’s center.

Most of Georgia is in a moderate risk (3 out of 4) for excessive rainfall Thursday into Friday.

Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for portions of central Georgia, emphasizing the need for vigilance. Helene is expected to move through the area overnight Thursday, so it is important to have multiple ways to receive warnings and stay informed.
