Neil Druckmann’s Says Current Project in the Works Since 2020, Suggesting An Imminent Announcement About The Last of Us 3

Neil Druckmann has just revealed that the new game from Naughty Dogs has been in the works since 2020, and there is a high chance that it gets announced later this year, one year prior to its release, a strategy Sony has been using for a long time now.

The game Druckmann is talking about is anticipated to be The Last of Us 3. This is a strong assumption given the time given for its development, which roughly accounts for almost 5 years, which is the average time needed to complete an AAA title.

Druckmann shared his excitement about the next game he is working on through an online panel with Ken Levine; the video has unfortunately been removed for the public as of now.

There is a high chance that Naughty Dog announces its next title in TGA later this year. TGA is a celebration of games from all over the world and one of the biggest events of the gaming industry.

There have been rumours in the air about Druckmann working on a new IP for Sony, and there is a chance that this game he has been talking about is in fact a completely fresh one. If such is the case, then it would be the first time in many years that Naughty Dog will release a new game.

Neil Druckmann says his current project has been in the works since 2020, while Sony doesn’t let him control how he’s going to announce it, they gave him full control over the game itself

However, the chances of this game being The Last of Us 3 are slightly higher due to the time period of its development. If the development started in 2020, then the chances of it being the next addition to The Last of Us franchise are relatively higher.

The Only Certain Thing Is That We Are Getting A New Game For Sure

Whether the next game is The Last of Us 3 or a fresh IP is debatable, but the only thing that is certain is that we sure are getting a new game next year. Sony only announces titles 1 year prior to release, and even Druckmann is of the opinion that announcing a game closer to release relieves pressure off of the team.

This approach has proved beneficial in the past. What the next game is, we still can’t say for sure, but we might get a clear picture towards the end of this year when the game is announced.

If you are a fan of the games by Druckmann, then you sure are in for a treat; just hang tight and wait; he will not disappoint. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below
