Fairy Tail Staff Taking on Another Hiro Mashima Adaptation Might End Horribly for the Mangaka

The recently released role-playing video game by Marvelous, Farmagia, has become the talk of the town as an anime adaptation of the video game has been announced. The character designs of the game were done by Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima, and the anime adaptation comes as a big shock to many people as the game was just released worldwide for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam.

Farmagia is a combination of action role-playing and farm life simulation that allows the players to grow different categories of monsters from seeds. These monsters can be used for different purposes and are the most important aspect of Felicidad, the fictional land where the entire game is based. The game came out on November 1, 2024, and it has instantly become quite famous.

The intriguing aspect of the upcoming anime adaptation of Farmagia is that the entire staff of Fairy Tail is going to work on the series. However, this might be a big problem for the upcoming series and for Mashima because fans believe that the entire character array of Farmagia has been copied from Fairy Tail.

Farmagia is Getting An Anime Adaptation

Farmagia follows the story of Ten and his friends, who are revolting against the tyranny of the Oración Seis, a Dark Guild that has taken over Felicidad. He is helped by Nares, a former Oración Seis general who is revolting against the dark guild. The entire narrative is divided into twelve chapters spread across the game for players to explore.

The anime adaptation of the game was announced by Marvelous on their official YouTube channel, and the major details came afterward.

The series will premiere on Jan. 10, 2025, and it will be produced by Japanese animation studio Bridge, responsible for creating anime series like Shaman King, Fairy Tail, Talentless Nana, etc.

The upcoming series draws a lot of parallels with Fairy Tail in terms of production, as most of the staff members from Fairy Tail will be working on Farmagia. Shinji Ishihira, the anime director of Fairy Tail, will be working as the chief director of Farmagia. Akihiko Sano, who was the animation director of Fairy Tail, will be working as the director for Farmagia.

Fans Are Not Happy With The Parallels Between Farmagia And Fairy Tail

Although Farmagia getting an anime adaptation is certainly exciting news, some anime fans are not at all happy with it. Their disappointment stems from the similarity between the character designs of Fairy Tail and Farmagia. The entire character array of Farmagia looks like it has been copied from Fairy Tail, and the blame goes to Hiro Mashima.

While the stories of both series might be different, the uncanny resemblance between the characters affects Farmagia in a major way.

This is why, when the news about Farmagia getting an anime adaptation hit the internet, a lot of fans expressed their disappointment with Mashima and the series.

Although fans are not happy with the similarity in the character designs, there is a chance that Farmagia’s intriguing and unique storyline might just save the series. It all depends on how the anime adapts the narrative and portrays it.

Fairy Tail is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
