The studio behind action platformer Berserk Boy has signed up to Outersloth for its next game Berserk B.I.T.S.

Outersloth, the indie publishing fund set up by Among Us developer Innersloth, will fund the remining development of the game, which is now set for a 2025 release.

BerserkBoy Games now says the game is being supported “as a split between Outersloth, Casey Yano from Mega Crit (Slay the Spire) and a mystery friend”.

Released earlier this year, Berserk Boy is a 2D action platformer inspired by the Mega Man games. The game was critically well-received, with a Metacritic score of 83.

VGC’s Berserk Boy review called it “a great modern take on Mega Man style gameplay and one of the better recent attempts to bring the 16-bit era into the 2020s”.

For Berserk B.I.T.S, however, the studio is going in a completely different direction and offering a “bit-collection, virus-busting idle game”.

The game will run on the player’s desktop alongside other applications, and can work in the background as it auto-battles and collects chips. These chips can then be used for various powers, upgrades, weapons, summons and abilities.

BerserkBoy Games lead Zu Ehtisham says the addition of new funding from Outersloth will help to expand the game’s scope, and add new features, including an extended campaign, deeper customisation, more helper resources and a wider range of battle chips.

“Partnering with Outersloth is a very exciting opportunity,” he said in a statement. “With this added support, we’re amped up at the thought of expanding Berserk B.I.T.S in ways that give players even more collecting and battling. The added time and resources will let us develop even more features and some secrets too.”
