Fortnite OG is returning permanently in December

Popular throwback mode Fortnite OG is returning to Epic’s battle royale game permanently, it’s been announced.

Last November, tens of millions of players flocked to Fortnite to check out a new season called Fortnite OG, which gave fans a trip down memory lane by taking Epic’s game back to different phases of Chapter 1.

Fortnite OG’s launch sparked “the biggest day in Fortnite’s history with over 44.7 million players jumping in and 102 million hours of play”, according to Epic.

While that was a month-long event, the company confirmed on Tuesday that Fortnite OG is coming back for the long-term.

“OG is coming BACK and is here to stay,” it said on X. “Relive Battle Royale from the start and explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons. Drop back in on December 6.”

Today’s announcement confirms a recent report by Fortnite leaker HYPEX, who said Fortnite OG would be returning permanently. They claimed last week that the first 10 seasons of Fortnite, which comprised Chapter 1, would be returning on a monthly basis.

Apex Legends Season 23: From the Rift launched last week with a new mode that also recreates the battle royale’s launch state from 2019.

And on Monday, Blizzard announced Overwatch: Classic, which is billed as a series of nostalgia-inducing events that take players back to the game’s early days.

Fortnite’s current Season, Chapter 2 Remix, runs until November 30.

Epic recently revealed plans to simplify Fortnite’s pass progression systems. By December 1, all Fortnite passes will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience (Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite Festival).
